Fashion Network Seattle is a new site which covers the Seattle fashion community. This was fun event held in a well-decorated space in SODO and was well attended by local fashionistas. Music and drinks flowed as the works of local designers were shown in live fashion installations with rotating models. Designers included Banchong Douangphrachanh, Olga Earle, Michelle Elalto, Jesica Milton, and Lacey Velvet.

With the event’s proceeds benefiting the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation, it sent the message that the Seattle fashion community is hip and socially conscious. Thanks to all the designers, models and sponsors that participated and congrats to Fashion Network Seattle on their launch!

The very talented students from the Department of International Fashion and Culture Studies at Bunka Women’s University presented their work today at Seattle Central Community College in their 12th Keyakisai Fashion Show. This inspiring show consisted of 9 different sets of entirely different clothing, each beautiful, intricate, and unexpected.

Each detail of the show was perfectly executed by the students: from makeup and hair right down to the intricate designs themselves, they were responsible for making the show a success. Some of the students even wore the designs in the show.

This show was an inspirational experience that will be unparalleled… at least until the program returns to Seattle next year with another production for us!

People in attendance included Andrew Hoppin (New York State Senate’s CIO), Mike McGinn (Seattle Mayor), Sabra Schneider (Webmaster, King County), Bill Schrier (CIO of Seattle) and David Hume, (Executive Director, Citizen Engagement). The conference was hosted by Sarah Schact (Executive Director, Knowledge As Power) in Seattle’s beautiful city hall on March 26-27.
